I have a network with 4 computers and 1 server. The server is running Windows 2008 x64 Standard (Domain Controller). IT IS NOT A PRINT SERVER. The four client computers print directly to the printer, using the IP address as the port. The port protocol is RAW, port 9100, and it doesn't matter if SNMP is enabled or disabled (it is slow either way).
Of the four computers, two are XP and two are Windows 7 32-bit. The XP computers have been here for much longer. The two XP computers print fine, but the two W7 computers print extremely delayed. When I say delayed, I mean that from the time you click "Print" to the time the printer even starts to warm up can take up to a minute.
Have you tried changing the print processor to WinPrint and data type to RAW? Properties-Advanced-Print Processor. Also check the queue on the system doing the printing when you send a job and see if you get any more info. Things like size of the spooled job.
I have seen this problem, and it is a bug in the Kyocera driver. Don't use the standard driver or the one with the printer. Download & instal the new version 8 Feb 2010. In this client's case, printing took 1 minute 50 seconds to start, reduced to 5 seconds after driver upgrade. Bruce
After much headache, we caved and had the printer company come in. They did a full hardware reset on the device (reset all settings) and updated the actual printer firmware to the latest available.
Once we reconfigured it for our network and I reinstalled the printer drivers on all of the computers (since I had done so much tinkering and playing with settings), it started printing quickly again.
Printing will fail if spooled directly to the printer when a cost centre is enabled on a Kyocera printer. Setting the policy "Universal printing EMF processing mode" to "Reprocess EMFs" forces the print job through the endpoint GDI subsystem first which will work.
In Macintosh OS 9.X, the Kyocera Printer Setup Utility configures the KPDL setting for Kyocera Mita printers connected via USB or AppleTalk. Macintosh users must change the default PCL printer emulation to KPDL for printing support in the Mac environment. When invoking the Kyocera Mita Macintosh Installer, the utility changes the emulation for all USB connected printers and installs itself on the Macintosh desktop. After installation, the utility can be used to set KPDL for Kyocera Mita printers connected via AppleTalk or to set-up a newly connected Kyocera Mita USB printer.
When used as a standalone utility, all AppleTalk and USB connected Kyocera Mita printers can be selected in a tree view display. When an AppleTalk connected printer is selected, then the Printers Name and AppleTalk Zone will be displayed. For USB printers, only the printer name is displayed.
Kyocera Mita printer support can be instituted within the Macintosh OS in two ways: through the Chooser or through the Desktop Printing Utility. Ethernet or AppleTalk connected printers require using the Chooser in the Apple menu. USB connected printers (USB to Parallel) use the Desktop Printing Utility to install and require Mac OS 8.6 or higher. To successfully print in a Macintosh environment, the user must set the printer default emulation to KPDL or KPDL (Auto) mode as specified in the following section.
Hi everyone.... odd issue that turned out to be harder to figure out than I first thought it'd be. I have a user connected locally (via USB cable - NOT networked) to one of our Kyocera ECOSYS M3550idn printers. I'm attempting to figure out how to basically setup a speed dial for her to scan to a folder I created on her desktop called "SCANS". However I'm having issues. The printer prints fine, but seems to be lacking the capability to scan. I have installed the latest drivers via the below link...
I was hoping to find some sort of desktop application to also initiate scanning. I did find the Kyocera Print Center and it is installed, however it does not detect the printer/scanner. Just detects other "NETWORKED" printers throughout the building. Any ideas?
HPIJS is HP's universal printer driver for most of their non-PostScript printers. It comes as a part of HPLIP, HP Linux Imaging and Printing. The supplied PPDs are provided by OpenPrinting.org and include PPDs for printers made by HP and printers made by other manufacturers. HP does not provide support for any non-HP printer.
